Hyper-V

Hyper-V – Support for ShoreTel HQ and DVS servers for Hyper-V Replica and Failover Clustering for high-availability.

  • Hyper-V version 3.0

Note: Hyper-V Replica or Snapshots are recommended during non-operational hours

The following Hyper-V features are not supported:

  1. ShoreTel software installations on non-HQ or DVS servers such as Contact Center.
  2. Double Take
  3. Hyper-V 2.0 or earlier
  4. Windows 8 Pro Hyper-V

Windows Server 2012

ShoreTel 14.2 supports Windows Server 2012, Standard and Datacenter

Virtual Switches and Virtual Service Appliance

ShoreTel 14.2 provides support for the following virtual devices:

  • Virtual Trunk Switch
  • Virtual Phone Switch
  • Virtual Service Appliance

To support the virtual switches, ShoreTel also provides two new keyed license types:

  • ShoreTel Virtual Switch SIP Trunk License
  • ShoreTel Virtual Switch Phone License

Diagnostics and Monitoring

  • The Diagnostics & Monitoring system provides detailed status information about the components in the ShoreTel system.
  • The Diagnostics & Monitoring system also provides a system dashboard, a topology map, alerts, call quality information, and remote packet capture functionality.
  • You can use the Diagnostics and Monitoring system to reboot phones.

ShoreTel 400-Series IP Phones

Software-Release-14-21

  • ShoreTel has introduced a new line of IP phones: IP420, IP480, IP480g, and IP485g.
  • ShoreTel 400-Series IP phones differ from other ShoreTel IP phones in that they use the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).

ENHANCEMENTS

ShoreTel Conferencing Enhancements

This release includes the following enhancements to ShoreTel Conferencing:

  • Mute on entry option in the Conference add/edit options.
  • Participant options are removed from the Conference Options page.
  • Full screen toggle button added to the toolbar.
  • Downloaded reports and web reports show whether the attendee is a host.
  • Both Java and Windows Presenter share the same locale setting as that of the browser locale.

ShoreTel Communicator for Windows Enhancements

Communicator for Windows includes two new options on the Telephony Options page (Tools > Options > Telephony):

  • Wall Paper
  • Ringtone

VMware

VMware – Support for ShoreTel HQ and DVS servers is as follows (this includes support for High Availability and VMotion):

  • VMware ESXi 5.0 & 5.1

The following two VMware features are not supported:

  1. Fault tolerance not supported. This feature is not supported by VMware across multiple CPUs.
  2. Snapshots not supported. These can consume significant CPU and memory resources impacting system operation.

NO LONGER SUPPORTED IN SHORETEL 14.X

The following is a list of ST14 unsupported software and features. This is not a complete list but is used to capture the main components.

Windows 2003 Server

ShoreTel Enterprise Windows 2003 Server is not supported for ShoreTel Enterprise customers. Sites on Windows 2003 are recommended to migrate to a new server using a supported Windows 2008 version before upgrading.

ShoreTel SBE customers are still supported on Windows 1.1 which is a Windows 2003 telecom edition.

Office 2003

Office 2003 is no longer supported on the clients. ShoreTel customers with ShoreTel Communicator installed on client machines running Office 2003 must uninstall Outlook integration/Calendar integration before upgrading to Office 2007/2010. Once MS Office has been upgraded, the client must be re-installed with the local System Administrator account and reboot the client machine. Outlook and calendar integration must be re-installed for ShoreTel Communicator to work properly. The integration steps are not necessary if the end user is not integrating their Communicator with Outlook/Calendar.

V-1 Clients

  • Softphone support is removed for V-1 client
  • V-1 configurations are no longer supported on Citrix/WTS
  • V-1 is only supported for Personal and Professional license types. Workgroup Agent, Workgroup Supervisor, and Operator License types are not supported for V-1 clients.

Converged Conferencing

  • Converged conferencing prior to 7.1 is not supported
  • Call Handling Mode and Calendar Integration have been removed and are not supported. Customers desiring this feature will need to migrate to the SA-100/400/li>
